Liverpool has The Cavern Club. Now it’s time for Manchester to have a musical shrine of its own.

In the 90s, Acid House music became massive and clubs like The Hacienda pulled in people from far and wide. This was the era known as Madchester.

Soon you’ll be able to relive it thanks to a new bar coming to the city.

This place will bring the best of the area’s arts, culture and music all under one roof so you’ll be able to celebrate all things Manc to your heart’s content.

Expect plenty of Oasis, James, Happy Mondays and The Stone Roses, plus authentic memorabilia all over the walls and a real Manc feel. Whether you choose to dress baggy or not is up to you but don’t forget those bucket hats!

Memorabilia has been offered by music icons including drums from The Charlatans and even the urinals from the Hacienda.

The bar will also celebrate the best of the city’s current tunes too including the likes of Cabbage, The Courteeners, The Blinders and Blossoms.

Behind the venture are brothers Anthony and Christopher Donnelly, founders of the Manc-based global fashion brand Gio-Goi. Famous not just for their clothes, Anthony and Christopher Donnelly pioneered the illegal Acid House scene.

They put on Joy, the largest event the north west ever seen, Sweat It Out, Manchester’s first rave, and the official Stone Roses after show parties.

Anthony and Chris have teamed up with a group of entrepreneurs and celebrities, determined to bring the buzz of Madchester back.

A world-famous artist is prepared to create a special bronze statue and there’s been a massive positive response to a recent Facebook appeal launched by the madchester.com team.

They are still looking for collaborators and partners, a brewery and investors. But one thing’s for sure, Madchester is already in the hearts of people here.

Whether you see it as a Hacienda for our era or a fun venue celebrating the city’s music history, there is plenty to be excited about. For more info contact [email protected].
