‘I love your glasses! They really suit you.’
‘Thanks, they’re Specsavers.’
Specsavers invited us into their Arndale Centre branch to have a nosey at their new frame collections.
With everything from vintage drama to sunset colours in the mix, the upcoming eyewear and style trends by Specsavers are sure to have you eager to get an eye test or at least update your frames.
During a short step away from the Hollywood red carpet, internationally renowned celebrity makeup artist and style expert Armand Beasley spent a day glamming up Manchester celebs and shoppers for a close up in his pop-up image clinic.
In a bid to ensure his home city continues to lead the way as the most stylish place in the north, Armand teamed up with Specsavers to set up a pop-up image station in the Arndale Centre, which was a huge hit with shoppers eager to get the latest make-up looks and designer glasses to match.
Armand’s celeb friend, Manchester actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, was quick to pop by for her own make-over, and image advice about the key fashion looks for Spring 2015.
Use this guide to find the frame styles that will look great on you and identify the trends that best resonate with your personality.
Heart-shaped face
Broad forehead, wide eye line, narrow chin and jawline.
If you have a heart-shaped face, you can wear many different styles, from oval frames to deeper squares but you’ll really suit the trend for ‘ultra feminine’, such as vintage cat’s-eye styles. Make sure the cat’s-eye frames are as wide as, or very slightly wider than, the width of your eye line. This way the frame will flatter the face rather than causing it to look too small and shortening your eye line.
Oval-shaped face
Balanced features, sometimes high cheekbones.
If you have an oval-shaped face, you are lucky, as you can wear most frame shapes, from square to oval. The most flattering frame shape for you depends on your features. If you have some softened features, you may want to add the extra effect of angles by wearing a rectangular frame. For angular features, you can soften them by wearing a rounded or oval frame shape. If you have a longer face, you may find that deeper, squarer shapes will suit you best.
Round-shaped face
Softer, circular, width and length of face appear to be the same. Often (but not always) baldness can make a head appear rounder.
If you have a round face, you can create more definition by wearing rectangular or square-shaped frames.
Square-shaped face
Broad forehead, very strong jaw line.
If you have a square-shaped face, you can soften the appearance of angles by wearing rounded or oval frame shapes.
In fact, in styling frames to face shapes, it’s best to think of the phrase ‘opposites attract’; a rectangular, square-shaped frame works well in contrast to rounder face shapes and soft features, whereas a round or oval-shaped frame works well in contrast to more angular faces.
