42% of Brits say Manchester is the best city in the UK for Xmas shopping

Manchester is the second best city for Christmas shopping in the UK according to a recent survey by retail specialists shop4pop.com.

They asked10,000 people which British cities they believe offer the best Christmas shopping experiences in the country. London secured an unsurprising top spot as Britain’s favourite Christmas shopping city with 58% of the vote with Manchester in second spot, a massive 13 points ahead of Birmingham in third place.

However, people over the age of 65 don’t need to travel to the capital to find their ideal shopping break – 55% of over-65s said Manchester the ultimate Christmas shopping destination.

According to the survey, the best Christmas shopping cities in the UK are as follows:

1st London: 57.9%
2nd Manchester: 41.5%
3rd Birmingham: 28.5%
4th Edinburgh: 19.5%
5th Liverpool: 15.3%
6th Glasgow: 14.4%
7th Newcastle: 11.9%
8th Leeds: 11.5%
9th Cardiff: 10.9%
10th Durham: 10.5%
11th York: 8.9%
12th Belfast: 8.0%
