Forget the fights over the washing-up and leave your 6am spud peeling session behind this year, because we’ve found some cracking restaurants that are open on Christmas Day  offering a range of dining options.

So let the professionals get on with the cooking this year and focus on the best bits of Christmas – spending time with your loved ones and eating until you’re completely stuffed.

Albert’s Chop House

The Albert Square Chop House is a surefire leader in Manchester when it comes to traditional British grub done well. They are offering a stunning 7-course menu on the day, priced at £85pp (half-price for children) including a glass of award-winning English fizz hand-picked by their legendary sommelier George Bergier on arrival. Open from 12pm on Christmas Day, Albert’s is very popular and already filling up fast.

Don Giovanni

Whether you’re after a traditional turkey dinner or something a little more Mediterranean, you can rely on Manchester’s oldest Italian restaurant to take good care of your party on Christmas Day. Don Giovanni is always a popular choice for anyone wanting to dine out at Christmas, offering two menu options for children and a special 3 course set menu for adults to enjoy priced at £59.50pp. For anyone looking to enjoy the same Don Giovanni classics in a brighter, more relaxed setting, their sister restaurant Cibo is also open and taking bookings for Christmas day.

Enjoy an indulgent three-course meal in the elegant surroundings of the charming former Victorian schoolhouse that is the Great John Street hotel. Available with your own private room (for a minimum of 8 guests only), or shared with other tables for groups of six or more, the menu includes a Bucks Fizz cocktail on arrival and is priced at £75pp.

King Street Townhouse’s Tavern offers a cosy yet elegant setting to enjoy your Christmas dinner. Serving up a sumptuous three-course meal to diners with all the festive trimmings, plus a glass of Bucks Fizz on arrival. Expect to be spoilt for your £75.

Celebrate Christmas Day with a view at one of 2018’s hottest new restaurants, 20 Stories. Aiden Byrne may be taking his leave, but no doubt a stellar replacement is already lined up to fill his crocs. Costing £120pp for adults and £60pp for children, the restaurant is offering a 7-course menu that starts with a Christmas cocktail and canapes and finishes with a Christmas pudding to take home.

Salvi’s Corn Exchange

If you fancy celebrating Christmas day in Neapolitan style this year, Salvi’s in the Corn Exchange will be open 12pm-6 pm with a special three-course menu. Reasonably priced at £49.99pp with a mixture of high-end Mediterranean favourites – such as lobster ravioli and Neapolitan lasagne – and classic meat and veg dishes on offer, there’s something for everyone here. The menu also includes a glass of prosecco on arrival to get your party started.

Cafe Football

Eat, drink and be merry at Cafe Football Old Trafford and the National Football Museum this Christmas. Make the festive season go with a bang with a three course menu (£20) featuring a pear and walnut salad starter, turkey burger or vegan pizza, and sticky toffee pudding. Get your team in the party mood quicker by greeting them with a glass of Cafe Football’s festive home brew (£8). Bookings are available from Monday November 26th. Pre-booking essential.
