We all know the place to be this weekend – The Emirates Old Trafford. Ariana is back in town with her One Love mega line-up with proceeds from ticket sales going to the We Love MCR Emergency Fund in aid of the families of the victims of the Manchester bombing.  If you haven’t already got tickets, you’re probably too late.

There’s lots of other stuff going on this weekend too. Here’s our choice of things to do, in no particular order.

Talks On Tour

Howard Donald, Gary Barlow, Dafydd Rogers, David Pugh, Mark Owen, Robbie Williams Pic Jay Brooks

This one’s for those of you who fancy a career in music. Former Coldplay manager Estelle Wilkinson is returning to her home town of Manchester to launch her new venture Talks On Tour at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday.  Talks on Tour is a series of ‘in conversation’ sessions for 16-24 year olds which tie in with major gigs at different venues around the UK. This one coincides with Robbie Williams’ gig at The Etihad Stadium on Saturday and it’s split into two sessions. The first will see Estelle speaking to crew members working on his tour and the second will be with Robbie’’s manager, Tim Clark and A&R man, Chris Briggs. They’ll all be sharing their experiences, talking about life on the road; working on a worldwide stadium tour; and what the music industry is all about. To book tickets go to talksontour.eventbrite.co.uk

Alphabet Brewing Company Food Fair

Head down to Alphabet Brewing Co this weekend and you’ll find a roster of the finest foodie delights that Manchester has to offer. Vendors will be doling out everything from double patty burgers from Almost Famous, to some fine looking Quebec-style poutine from the Canadian crew at The Blue Caribou Canteen. There will also be a fantastic selection of craft ale, and some cracking live music to boogie along to between mouthfuls of soulful food. So if you fancy some fine tasting fare from the region’s lesser known street foodsters, get yourself down to Alphabet Brew Tap and Food Yard this weekend. You might need to loosen a belt buckle or two. Fair warning.

99 North Western Street, Manchester M12 6JL

King Street Festival

The King Street Festival returns this weekend Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th June, bringing this iconic shopping address alive with music, art, food, games and a host of exclusive in-store events. Expect al fresco dining, free fizz, gifts and goodie bags, a glorious bandstand, pop-up parks, an art garden and stylish crazy golf. It’s set to be a good’un.
