Brace yourself. Friends Fest has hit Manchester. Even though it’s been 13 years since it left our screens – feel old yet? – it’s still one of the best sitcoms around and this TV festival is the ultimate celebration of the show. Head down to Heaton Park for the ultimate Friends experience. Then, why not hit the Caribbean carnival and put your dance moves to the test or try livin’ la vida loca down at Viva club? Whatever you decide to do, we’ve got your weekend covered.
Here’s our three to see this weekend, in no particular order.
Janice voice. ‘Oh. My. Gawd’. Comedy Central UK’s FriendsFest will return this summer, in partnership with The Luna Cinema, bringing the festival to Manchester for the first time in Heaton Park and it’s going on all weekend. With brand new features including a full scale set of Joey and Chandler’s apartment, original memorabilia from the iconic show and new fan experiences, there’s more than enough reasons to get yourself down. Manchester carnival explodes onto our streets this weekend in a celebration of Caribbean colour and sound. Think catchy beats, carnival arts and dance moves that put Mick Jagger to shame. So put the saltfish and ackee back in the cupboard and head there instead. More info here.

Lovers of Latin, this one’s for you. Moe Flex Full and Mauricio Reyes have put on a night to remember. Velma Dandzo will be hosting the free Latin kizomba dance class where you’ll learn all the hip swinging moves a la Ricky Martin. The instructor is vastly experienced and has worked throughout the UK. After you’ve learned the basic moves, head over to one of the other three rooms where you can put what you’ve learned to the test. Latin flavours all round. Get tickets here.
