Brace yourself. It’s set to be sunny this weekend. Well, at least between rain showers. This weekend’s three to see will have you dancing to some feel good beats at Blue Dot, rifling through locally sourced foodie treats in a Victorian bath house and getting your face beat a la Kim Kardashian at the Arndale. If that’s not reason enough to peel yourself off the sofa this weekend, we don’t know what is.
So without further ado, here’s our pick of things to do this weekend in no particular order.
Foodie open day at Victoria Baths
Once described as the city’s Water Palace, historic Victoria Baths is opening its doors for a food-themed open day on Sunday. There’ll be all kinds of street food from Purley Pizza to Ice Cream Creations and, for those who fancy a sit-down occasion, there’s the stylish sophistication of afternoon tea. Always a good shout. If you really want to push the boat out, head out to the Pineapple Room where you can enjoy sandwiches, savouries, home-made scones and freshly brewed tea or coffee – all on proper china. Nice.
Tickets for the afternoon tea are £20 per head which includes entry to the Open Day. Click here for more.
MCR Made Up at the Arndale Centre
Manchester Arndale’s dedicated hair and beauty event, MCR Made Up, is back again with even bigger discounts up for grabs. This weekend there’ll be two days of beauty for the guys and gals including mini-makeovers, live demos at the Beauty Hub, male grooming and heaps of exclusive offers available across the shopping centre. The event takes place in Exchange Court outside Next and expert advice from your favourite brands will include skin consultations, contouring, lip art, foundation colour matching, fragrance matching, eyebrow mapping, hair styling sessions, and tons more. If you fancy walking out with eyebrows a la Cara Delevingne and a contour as on point as Kim Kardashian, this is your golden ticket. Pre-register here until 4pm on Friday 7 July or just walk up and book in for your mini-makeover on the day.
P.S While you’re in the Arndale why not treat yourself and the kids to a temporary tattoo in aid of the We Love MCR Emergency Fund?
Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank
Bluedot is that festival that makes science cool. Well, sort of. It takes place at Jodrell Bank, the iconic observatory and all round badass centre for astrophysics. Still not convinced you’ll have a good time? You’ll get to camp out under the stars, explore a stellar programme of music, science, arts, technology, culture, food and film. It’ll be a weekend full of ground breaking encounters, including performances, DJ sets, comedy, talks, workshops and live experiments. Find out more here.
