Planning on hibernating this weekend? Well don’t. Put that tin of Quality Street down, peel yourself off the sofa, and get yourself into town. Whether you fancy a full on party bash at Bowie Experience, or you’re getting into the full-on New Year vibes at a Foundation juice and yoga class, there’s plenty to get your teeth into.
Here’s this weekend’s three to see, in no particular order.
The PUSH Festival
Two weeks of performances, workshops and more at HOME launches on Friday with artist Jez Dolan’s Anders Als Die Andern, the Manchester International Roots Orchestra (pictured) playing a set of celebratory music with a global influence, and a weekend of workshops, discussions, and events in conjunction with Random Acts North, aimed at creatives aiming to further their creativity, networks, and careers. There’s plenty more going on over the weekend, including on Saturday the premiere of an illuminating and unique new show by Manchester’s award-winning Monkeywood Theatre. The Manchester Project is a collection of 19 brand new ‘tiny but titanic’ new plays from outstanding Mancunian writers, exploring the city and its people.

Yoga and juice at Foundation Coffee House
Get your vinyasa on, align those chakras and head down to Foundation Coffee House for a Sunday morning yoga sesh. Is there a better way to kick start the new year? Breathe in and breathe out, perfect some downward dogs and dolphin stretches and then sip on the green stuff. It’s in partnership with Vida Yoga and runs from 10.30am every Sunday. The class costs a tenner and includes access to a mat and a juice to enjoy post-session. If you’ve been hiding those snazzy neon spanx in the back of your wardrobe, now’s your chance to get them out. Namaste.
