The 'This is Manchester' awards night returns to celebrate our most talented businesses and individuals

On November 3rd, the annual ‘This is Manchester Awards’ will take place to celebrate Manchester’s most talented individuals and businesses.

The awards are back after a brief hiatus last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Taking place at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, the prestigious evening will be hosted by Jenny Powell and Scott Thomas, who will reveal the winners of the 17 highly contested categories.

Nominations have been submitted into several categories such as night-time economy, entertainment, sport, arts & culture, technology, live events, property and fashion.

Manchesters excellent food scene is set to be celebrated with the category split between formal: Australasia, Dakota Grill, Fazenda Manchester, Tattu Restaurant, The Black Friar Salford, The Ivy Asia, Wood Restaurant, The Bull & Bear and Rosso Restaurant and Bar.

And also casual restaurants: Don Giovanni, Ducie Street Warehouse, El Gato Negro, Holcombe Tap, Peter Street Kitchen, The Ivy and the TNQ Restaurant & Bar.

The nominees for best bar are: 20 Stories, Albert’s Schloss, Speak in Code, The Alchemist Bar, The Blues Kitchen, The Oast House, Three Little Words, Schofields Bar and Escape to Freight Island.

Entries will be judged independently by a panel which includes Founder and CEO of John Roberts, BRIT Awards’ Ged Doherty and Nazir Afzal OBE.

Nadine Merabi, Zaynep Kartal and Miss Kick are just some of the nominations within the fashion category, The Lowry Hotel, Stock Exchange and Native Manchester are all being considered for Hotel of the Year while The National Lottery’s Big Jubilee Party and Van Gogh Alive are just some of the incredible events being considered in the Live Event of the Year category.

This is Manchester Awards founder and organiser Ziara Siddique, MD of Elite Profile Agency said; “It’s great to be back having had to cancel last year because of the pandemic.

“Every year I’m bowled over by the support and number of entries we receive.

“It’s amazing to be able to showcase all the incredible talent in the region.”

“We’re also delighted to confirm our support to OnSide Youth Zones we’ll be raising money on the night for the new, Hide Out in Gorton, Manchester.”

One of the many highlights of the evening will be the acknowledgement of a real superhero, embracing the true This is Manchester spirit.

The Supernova award is given to a citizen who has truly gone above and beyond for the greater good of others.

Previous winners include John Roberts, founder of, Fred Done, CEO of Betfred and to Marcus Rashford MBE in 2020.

On receiving the award in 2020 Marcus said; “I’m honoured to receive this award and would like to thank those who have nominated me for it.

“This award demonstrates the power of working together to fight a common cause.

“So much more needs to be done though in the fight against child hunger and this award will help motivate me and those involved to continue our efforts.”
