To celebrate the launch of Campari’s Red Diaries 2019 film Entering Red, the legendary Italian aperitif is giving 200 lucky Mancunians free Negroni cocktails this weekend.

Taking over venues around the UK, the popular liqueur-based cocktail will be offered at two Manchester city centre locations.

So whether you have the taste for a cheeky Negroni, or just fancy getting in for a free drink to start your weekend off the right way, guests can head down to either Arcane on King Street or Cane and Grain in the Northern Quarter. Prime locations for some after-work drinks.

And to claim your free cocktails – it couldn’t be easier! All you have to do is watch the Entering Red short film.

Starring Hollywood actress Ana de Armas, the new short features a cameo appearance from award-winning Manchester bartender, Joe Schofield and can be viewed on Campari’s YouTube channel.

Let the short film take you into the world of Campari – and make sure you keep an eye out for when the lead character, played by Ana, enters the bar for the second time.

So you can get your cocktails that bit quicker, we’ve been told that the quote you need to secure your free bevs can be heard at the end of the film.

Once you know the quote, all you have to do is head to the bar and pass it on to the bartender. Then you can sit back, relax, and enter into the weekend with free booze in hand.

The limited-edition Negroni Segreto cocktail up for grabs was created by Joe exclusively for the film to celebrate the Negroni’s 100th birthday. A twist on the iconic classic, it’s a perfectly balanced mix of Campari, Bulldog gin, Cinzano Rosso 1757, Vermouth Rosso, rosewater and fresh raspberries.

We spoke to Joe last year about his bartending achievements, which include winning both Bartender’s Bartender at The World’s 50 Best Bars awards and International Bartender of the Year at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards – the only person in history to claim both awards in the same year.

“I love to make Negronis. It is such a simple and elegant drink,” Joe told us.

“The Negroni is a timeless classic and very easy to replicate at home, too. It is made up of equal parts of gin, sweet vermouth and Campari, served over ice with a slice of orange and a discarded orange twist.

“As part of my role as a Red Hand I was challenged to create my own twist, the Negroni Segreto, which adds muddled raspberries and rosewater to the original recipe to give a fruity, floral note.

“The Negroni Segreto has particular significance this year as 2019 is the 100th year of the Negroni, and I am excited to see how bartenders and bars alike celebrate this milestone.”

The offer will be available this weekend to the first 100 customers in each bar from 6pm, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Claim your free cocktail from 8th – 10th February at Arcane, 2S King Street; and Cane and Grain, 49 Thomas Street.
