The Ivy Manchester

The Ivy restaurant has reopened in Manchester following a huge fire on the roof terrace on Friday night.

Bosses were able to reopen the ground floor brasserie, first floor private dining space and second floor Ivy Asian on Saturday after getting the all clear from fire fighters following the shocking rooftop blaze.

The roof terrace will remain closed for repairs until February, but the restaurant says bookings at all other areas of the restaurant will now be honoured.

The fire took hold shortly after 5pm on Friday night, with all staff and diners safely evacuated as huge flames were seen pouring out of the roof terrace, the top floor of the wooden super-structure on Spinningfields.

But by 6.20pm, Greater Manchester Fire Service had extinguished the blaze.

In a statement on The Ivy Manchester’s website on Saturday, bosses revealed they are now planning a “super party” in April to thank customers for their ongoing support since they launched in November on Spinningfields.

The statement said: “Thank you for all your kind messages of support regarding yesterday’s unfortunate fire at The Ivy Spinningfields.

“The fire was contained in one section of The Roof Garden thanks to the excellent work of the Greater Manchester Fire Services who have informed us that the building is now totally safe to occupy.

“Whilst work starts to refurbish and repair any damage done to The Roof Garden, the ground floor Ivy Brasserie and Ivy Asia on the second floor are completely unaffected by the fire and will continue to operate as usual.

“All reservations will be honoured, we are planning to reopen The Roof Garden on the top floor towards the end of February and will of course notify everyone as soon as the date is ‘solid’.”

It ended with exciting news about a “Super Party” being planned at the venue, and details of how you can apply to attend.

It said: “As a thank you for the very warm welcomes that Manchester has given us since we opened on 27th November, we are planning a Super Party on Friday 12th April, encompassing the entire building and outside areas.

“Please put your names on the list by emailing [email protected].  Thank you again Manchester, we love being here.”

The Ivy Asia has reopened

The London-based restaurant group launched their first Manchester restaurant in November, with a glitzy star-studded opening party.

With over 530 covers, it was the biggest restaurant launch in the UK in 2018.

On the ground floor is the traditional Ivy Brasserie, the first floor hosts a private dining space called The Dalton Room, and the second floor is the first ever Ivy Asian with gourmet dining.

The third floor is where the spectacular roof terrace with a fully retractable roof allowing all-year dining is based, which remains closed while the fire damage is repaired.
