Manchester needs a new party palace that’s more grown up than The Printworks, less consciously cool than the Northern Quarter, cheaper than the pretentious, fur-coat-no-knickers Deangate or Locks, more up-beat than your backstreet pubs or Castlefield and slightly more hetro than the Village.

“Revolucion de Cuba does fit a hole that’s been missing on the Manchester night scene.”

Not that there’s anything wrong with those on the right night, but Revolucion de Cuba does fit a hole that’s been missing on the Manchester night scene. Manchester is a city that embraces its multicultural experiences after all. So this authentic, colourful Cuban mansion of madness is perfect for the cosmopolitan I Love Manchester team!

It’s a lush venue, nestling in the crock of Albert Square and specialising in a fusion of everything north of the border.

It does food which varies from nachos to other Mexican and Cuban inspired dishes but we went for the nightlife with Chadders, Ginger, Turks, Viva Diva Emma & friends all having super sexy booths to host.

Because it was the end of Movember, there was a moustache theme which all the girls sadly pulled off magnificently. Girls suit taches! Wait, no! Plastic maracas’ were energetically fashioned, all thinking we’re Jim Carey in the The Mask (or at least Ginger did).

They raised over £300 for the charity with the help of James Roberts Hair and Beauty and Close Male Grooming who provided the on-site cut throat shaving.

And all the Movember guys who came along can now get 50% of hair services from James Roberts for six months for taking part.

The clientele is young and vibrant but no so young that you feel out of place if you’re over 25 like us lot and the music was banging getting everyone out of their booths/seats and onto the dancefloor.

Psychologically, the position and dimensions of a bar in a place like this are important. ‘De Cuba’ have got it. The bar fills the width of the dancefloor which makes for a continuously social night. There’s plenty of tables and seating to give your feet a rest – alternatively there’s a lively downstairs with a raised area for those confident dancers or to be used as a birds nest for finding for someone when lost.

There’s cocktails and drinks of all varieties with table-service (always a plus) for those in a booth.

Chadders had gorgeous slushy margaritas to start and then moved onto to a box which had a bottle of vodka, ice and slices as well as mixers, topped with a bottle of bubbles.

In the Ginger and VIVA Emma’s booth they were laying waste to Mojito’s and bottles of Cuban rum with mixers in a big box of ice.

This is a fun venue, ideal for Christmas parties, popping in for a bite at lunch or after-work drinks. But most of all, it’s about a fun night.

Dancing ‘til you drop and piecing the night before together by looking at you receipts, phone call history and Facebook photos you don’t remember posing for.

They are hosting a number of events including a Christmas Swing night including a swing band and dancers on the 13th December, we’ll be posting more details on that later.
