There’s certainly no shortage of restaurants offering up a great Sunday roast in Manchester. Now there’s a new kid on the block.

The Refinery already offers a carefully crafted menu, quirky cocktails and fine wines all set in a unique space.

Now they have created a sharing platter that will ensure gravy granules and overcooked roast chicken is a thing of the past. Not to mention the washing-up.

When we heard there was a new Sunday roast menu, I decided to volunteer for a bit of sampling and tasting. Well, someone had to do it.

Presented on a board, diners are served a succulent whole chicken surrounded by stuffing balls or a generous, perfectly cooked pork belly. On another platter you get roasted parsnips, broccoli, perfectly roasted potatoes and carrots.

And no Sunday lunch is complete without some Yorkshire pudding. There’s even a bowl of cauliflower cheese, which is always a nice touch, and generous helpings of gravy, of course.

Priced at £44.95 for 2-3 people, The Refinery have done Manchester proud with this one.

As if that wasn’t enough, they’ve also launched an interactive Bloody Mary bar. What’s that, we hear you say. Well, not many people know that there are endless variations of creating that ever-so-popular hangover cure, the Bloody Mary. The Refinery have teamed up with Ketel One Vodka to allow you to create your own cocktail.

Forget your bog standard Bloody Mary. Now you can customise it to suit your own palate using a combination of exciting ingredients including bottled tomato juice or freshly squeezed tomatoes. Add some fennel, garlic salts, a choice of tabasco sauces, lemon grass salt, mustard, HP sauce or Worcester sauce if you fancy. A vegan version of Worcester sauce is also newly available as the original is made with anchovies.

And you have the option to swap the traditional choice of vodka to gin or even tequila if you’re feeling brave enough. The idea is for people to learn to enjoy the Bloody Mary just how they would like it to be served. Believe us when we say you can make the same drink taste completely different yet just as delicious by putting your own preferred spin on it. Yum.

Launching last week, Sunday roast at The Refinery is proving a big hit. And with the Christmas Party season creeping up on us and more hangovers expected, what better way to spend your Sundays than feasting on some great food and getting a hit of vitamin C from some delicious Bloody Marys too.
