The Spice Girls are reuniting for a huge new UK tour which will start in Manchester – although Posh Spice Victoria Beckham won’t be joining them.

The world’s most successful girlband confirmed early on Monday morning that they would be heading back out on the road in 2019 as a four piece – performing together for the first time since the Olympics opening ceremony in London in 2012.

Scary Spice Melanie Brown, Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm, Baby Spice Emma Bunton and Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell will all head out on the UK tour without Posh Spice Victoria.

They made the announcement with a quirky video message on their official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C were seen in split screens singing lines from their smash hit Spice Up Your Life.

The video announced their tour will kick off at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on 1st June 2019, and support will come from Jess Glynne, before continuing on to stadium gigs in Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and London.

While Victoria isn’t planned to appear on the tour, Mel B did say during an interview on ITV’s Loose Women on Monday lunchtime that the door is open for Victoria to return.

“It’s just the four of us. I hope Victoria will join us at some where buy accutane point,” she said. “It’d be a shame if she didn’t.”

Victoria won’t be joining the tour due to business commitments, but today said: “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour, I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time.”

The girl group first rose to fame in 1996 when their debut single Wannabe became a global hit, and they went on to tour the world. But in 1998 Geri sensationally quit the band at the height of their fame to go solo.

The band continued until 2000 when they decided to split. In 2007 all five girls reunited for a comeback world tour, which included concerts at the Manchester Arena.

It comes hot on the heels of another huge gig announcement in Manchester, with rock gods Muse confirming a show at the Etihad Stadium on 9th June 2019 as part of their Simulation Theory world tour. Tickets for Muse’s Manchester show go on general sale on 16th November at 9am.

Tickets for The Spice Girls Manchester show go on sale on Saturday at 10.30am – keep your eye on our tickets and events site, link below.
