If you’ve not already heard, it’s Skiddle’s sweet sixteenth on Thursday 18th May. It’s a big one so they’re hosting a mega bash at Sound Control in Manchester, bringing together some of your favourite acts from across the gigs, clubs and festivals board. The best thing about it? It’s free and everyone’s invited. If you’d like to pop along, here’s what you can expect.

Across the venue’s three floors, Skiddle will be toasting to a whirlwind 16 years. From two company directors with a dream to a whopping 35 staff, with a fair few innovative new features plus highs and lows along the way. It’s been a big journey and one that wouldn’t be possible without  music lovers, ravers and gig enthusiasts.

The gig’s  recently live music offerings have just been announced, with math pop band Dutch Uncles, hip-hop and funk supergroup The Mouse Outfit. Mega Lo-fi DIY trio Stealing Sheep are also lined up to perform, bringing their psychedelic folk pop combination to the party. Think Daft Punk on acid. Or steroids. Or both. Their hypnotic beats, psych style swirls of guitar and classic folk vocals complete the live line up. Tie-dye T-shirt at the ready.

On the dance music front, house and techno label Avotre is set to take control of one of the three rooms, with Sidney Charles and Alexis Raphael at the helm. Both DJs have been a key fixture on clubbing line ups over the past few years, visiting hot spots like Berlin’s Watergate and Amsterdam’s De Marktkantine with their brand whilst smashing dates in Ibiza. A very special guest is soon to be confirmed to complete the clubs billing for this mega birthday bash.

Bringing the party vibes to the festivals room is one half of The 2 Bears, Raf Daddy, XPress 2 plus Mr Wilson’s Second Liners. Think 90s rave classics meets saxophone, trumpet, banjo, drums and trombone. Oh yeah.
