Drag Queen favourites Sink The Pink are taking over Wilson’s Social (previously The Patron) for Manchester Pride.

Described by The Guardian as “the club that’s saving queer nightlife”, the colourful and carnivalesque collective will sashay into action with an evening of live performances and DJ sets at the latest addition to the Northern Quarter.

Sink The Pink don’t do traditional. An antidote to soulless mega clubs, this collective of queens, club kids, pop superstars, creative juggernauts, flamboyant dancers and acclaimed designers prefer unusual spaces like railway arches and working mens clubs to typically gay spaces. As a result, they tend to attract a rather mixed following.

Formed in 2008 by Bristolian chums Glynn Fussell and Amy Redmond, the troupe might be fast becoming a brand but they still have their roots firmly planted in DIY club culture.

Aiming to recreate that last-day-at-a-festival high, with crazy costumes and a dash of cabaret, the Sunday takeover promises an evening of fabulous live entertainment and true party spirit.

Other goings-on at Wilson’s over the Pride weekend include an all-singing, all-dancing bottomless charity brunch on the Saturday with hosts Narcissa Nightshade and Donna Trump, followed by a Pride special DJ set from acclaimed Meat Free founder aalice later that evening.

Then on Sunday morning, to warm you up before Sink The Pink kick off the celebrations at 8pm, you can look forward to drag queen karaoke between 11am and 2pm.

There’ll also be charity rainbow bagels on offer throughout the weekend at Wilson’s Social, with 50% of sales going to The Albert Kennedy Trust which helps lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people who are homeless, living in a hostile environment or in housing crisis.

Love pop music and dressing up? Then this one’s for you. Book your tickets below.
