The owners of Manchester’s 280,000 sq ft Royal Exchange building are planning a multi-million pound refurbishment.

As well as improving the office and retail space in the building – home to the Royal Exchange Theatre – plans also include a new roof garden.

Trinistar Manchester, a joint venture between Starwood Capital and Trinity Investment Management, which bought the building last year, have submitted a planning application to the city council.

The owners are also looking to attract new retailers to the city in the vacant ground floor units facing St Ann’s Square and the arcade that links the square to Cross Street.
