Fries before guys: enjoy champagne and chips in an igloo this February

Galentine’s day may be a fictitious holiday made up by a fictional character on a TV show, yet the spirit of the idea rings true.

Coined by Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, it’s ‘traditionally’ celebrated on February 13th and is all about showing some love to your lady friends.

So, with Dry/Diet January finally over, we think it’s time to pull up your socks and organise that girls night out you’ve been meaning to get around to.

After all, the second wave of winter snow has landed, begging the question – where better to spend your time than in a cosy igloo with the girls?

Nestled down amongst the glass towers in Spinningfields, The Refinery’s fully furnished and
heated igloos can seat 8 to 10 for drinks or dinner and are the perfect place to while away an hour or four with your pals, putting the world to rights.

What’s more, The Refinery is running a special ‘Fries Before Guys’ promotion all month long pairing Champagne Sarcey Brut NV with its deluxe range of house chips.

Yes, that’s right, champagne and chips.

Apparently, some of the finest champagne makers themselves say that chips are the best food accompaniment to champagne because its bright acidity will cut through even the most decadent chip.

So, newly armed with a new fact to show off, head down with your BFF, mum or work pal for a couple of glasses of fizz and enjoy a complimentary portion to share between you.

Or, if you’re in a group and feeling extra fancy, spring for a bottle and score the fry hat- trick with the complimentary trio: cowboy fries with honey, chilli and garlic; decadent Roman fries piled high with parmesan, truffle and rosemary; and simple-but-delicious Cajun-spiced Louisiana fries.

We think you should get down sharpish whilst the cold weather lasts to enjoy The Refinery’s Christmas igloos in all their wintry splendour before they disappear in March.

For once, it’s time to snuggle up with a blanket and make the most of the Manchester weather.
