With just under a week to go, hundreds of runners are getting ready to see Heaton Park in a whole new light as Moon Rise Run comes to town…

‘set to be a truly memorable
occasion for Manchester’

Moon Rise Run is a brand new night run & festival. After nightfall, the 5km course will be transformed into an enchanting passage across the park, illuminated with bespoke and beautiful festoon lighting and by the LED Moonbeam wristbands given to each runner. The neon procession will cross the finish line and celebrate at the post-race festival, where all that breathless elation can be indulged with live music and high-quality refuelling opportunities. Think glowing, lantern-lit trees, live music and DJs, artisan street food and a bar.

The full programme of after-dark frivolity has now been revealed and runners are limbering up enjoy music from Firewood Island, Joseph Lofthouse, Lily Jo, and Rowetta and VIVA Ems, whilst food will come courtesy of Grill Stock BBQ, Wood Fired Pizza and Nasi Lemak. The Festival bar will provide thirsty runners with a full range of celebratory toasting options!

It’s the first time a night run has been combined with a festival experience, and is set to be a truly memorable occasion for Manchester.

The Northwest celebrity community have pledged plenty of support too. Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent is running for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Happy Monday’s Rowetta is DJ-ing and Corrie’s Hayley Tamaddon has also pledged support.

The running course is a gentle exploration of the park, and suitable for all levels of experience – from first timers to seasoned pros. The idea is to combine fitness and well being with fun and socialising, all as part of a shared experience in a beautiful, specially created environment.

Although participants don’t have to fundraise to participate in this event, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity are an official local charity to the event. This means that participants can easily opt-in to raise funds for the organisation via their run.

The ticket price gains each runner their entry into the race, limited edition Moon Rise Run T-shirt, LED Moonbeam wristband, race number and entry into the post-race festival. Festival-only tickets are also available to allow supporters the opportunity to revel in the festival celebrations after cheering on their friends and family.

Moon Rise Run is an inclusive event. The gentle course and welcoming, laid-back atmosphere of the festival make it suitable for everyone from novice runners and serious athletes to music lovers, festival fans, families, big social groups, and anyone looking for a new and memorable experience.

The event will open at 5.30pm, with registration closing at 7.30pm. Warm up with Katie Berry is at 7.45pm and will start around 8.15pm. The post-race festival will end at 11pm. Tickets for single entry, groups, and festival-only are on sale now.
