With over 300 whiskies available to buy and try on site as well as talks and seminars from a whole host of industry professionals, this is one not to be missed by any whisky lover.

There will also be food stalls, all with whisky twists, loads of live music throughout, and a cocktail bar specialising in ingenious cocktails all made with, yes, you guessed, whiskies from around the world.

Whiskey has seen a resurgence in fortunes in recent years with television shows such as Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire helping improve its image. Bourbon has come a long way since the days of prohibition in the US.

The days of ‘paint-stripper’ whiskies are well and truly over, with big-brand whiskey suppliers and smaller scale artisan operations experimenting and offering more accessible products. Sweeter additions of honey and maple syrup are making this much loved tipple a lot more accessible to a wider audience and making it a lot trendier to drink, with the American theme becoming more prevalent in the UK on both bar and dining scenes.

Diversification has led to the production of quirkier alternatives which have been met with acclaim across the UK, with corn, rye and flavoured whiskey liquors massively on trend.

Showcasing this diversity and increasing popularity, The Whiskey Jar, located in a beautifully restored textile mill on Tariff Street, has become one of the Northern Quarter’s favourite haunts. With 50 tipples to choose from, The Whiskey Jar is the largest purveyor of American whiskies in the city. Whether it’s global giants Jack Daniels or Jim Bean, or tiny, micro distilleries, there’s something for everyone.

Included in the ticket price is your very own whisky tasting glass which you can use to taste one 20ml whisky sample from each of four stands; Scotch, Irish, American & Bourbon, and World.

Entrance to the talks is limited but is also included in the ticket price.

There are two sessions – daytime from 12 noon until 4:30pm, and evening from 5:30pm to 9:30. Tickets are £25 per session. So pick your time slot and get your tickets quick for four hours of whisky love because the event is ticket only and availability is limited.
