Tatfresh creates natural tattoo care products, which have been developed by industry experts and wound care professionals, to clean, heal and moisturise new and existing tattoos.

The Manchester-based business was founded by Danny Birch and Ste Bacon, two 30-something professionals with over 15 years joint experience in running leading tattoo studios in the UK.

“Previous tattoo aftercare solutions have been borrowed from other skincare purposes, such as nappy rash or burns in the form of barrier creams,” says Danny.

“These types of solutions can actually hinder the healing process by preventing the skin from breathing and moisture from moving in and out of the skin, whilst also harbouring harmful bacteria.”

So the Manchester lads came up with an organic chemical-free product made from 100% plant based ingredients.

“We decided to use 100% natural ingredients and take tattoo skincare right back to basics, using only what Mother Nature intended for us in the first place,” says Danny.

“Ingredients that provide powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-fungal solutions that not only speeds up the healing process on new tattoos, but can also be applied to existing tattoos to bring out the colour and boldness, helping them to look new again.”

Tatfresh speeds up the healing process by reducing inflammation, pain and potential infection. The product keeps the area moisturised and replaces nutrients lost through tattooing such as vitamin A, E and D.

“All of our stock is perishable due to its natural/organic nature,” says co-founder Ste Bacon, who has a degree in human health. “Seeing as no one will be getting a tattoo for a while, we decided that Tatfresh Skincare would be better put to use by healing the dry hands of our NHS front line soldiers.

“It was brought to our attention last week that NHS key worker staff have been buying it because their hands are a mess due to excessive, but necessary, washing and cleaning whilst at work.”

Due to its remarkable skincare results and high demand, the independent business have ran out of stock and exhausted the cashflow needed to order more product.

“We decided to donate 1,000 tins to our frontline NHS staff members – which is over £6,000 worth of our stock – and the results have been fantastic,” Ste continued. “So much so that we have been inundated with messages from key worker staff from hospitals all over Manchester wanting to claim a balm to help their hands recover.”

Tatfresh have set up a pay it forward/gifting scheme on their website with significantly reduced prices “to only cover cost and include free delivery” to key workers in the NHS.

“We want to continue with our mission to support our incredible NHS staff, but during these unprecedented times we want to keep our business alive and have maxed out on what we can give away for free.

“We would be very grateful for your help to keep this support going, but not as grateful as one of the NHS staff would be to receive your gift of one of our balms to relieve their work related injuries. All you need to do is make a purchase and we will take care of the rest by delivering it to those in need.

“The public are really rallying together with some people buying up to 50 balms at a time for us to send.

“Despite all the negativity in the world right now, this has been a very happy week for me and Danny – seeing what people are made of and how kind we can be when we all pull together. It’s incredible.”
