Pop-Up Library Theatre at Cornerhouse

The Library Theatre Company is no more, but the Library Theatre Young Company still has one final project to deliver, a series of Pop-Up Performances taking place at Cornerhouse next week.

The Library Theatre Company’s final performance was The Seagull at The Lowry in Salford which finished its successful run on Saturday 8 March 2014, but the company’s Young Company (LTYC) presents its final piece of community work under the Library Theatre Company banner with a series of Pop-Up Performances at Cornerhouse week commencing Monday 7 April.

Devised by the company’s members, all of whom are aged 15-18, but suitable for all ages, Pop-Up Performances comprise the following:

Mon 7-Thu 10 April – Downstairs Café Wall (open usual Cornerhouse hours, 10:00 – 23:00). Free, no booking required.

According to recent research Manchester is the selfie capital of Europe.
We have created the perfect space for you to snap the perfect selfie in our café-bar so come along and choose the best accessories from our range of hats, glasses and props – strike your best pose and get snapping!

Upload your photos to Twitter using #selfiecorner and make Manchester the selfie capital of the world.

Selfie Seminar

Wed 9 April, 17:30-18:00; Thurs 10 April, 18:30-19:00. Free, no booking required.

The Annexe

This interactive seminar lead by members of the LTYC will introduce you to the history of the selfie and give you tips on how to take the perfect picture of yourself to up your likes on Instagram.

Bring along your smartphone and be prepared to pout as the selfie generation gives us a lesson in contemporary self-identification!

Memory Tour

Mon 7/Tue 8, Thu 10 April, 14:00-16:00. Free, no booking required.

The Annexe, Meeting Room 1 and Café

This performance-based tour of some of Cornerhouse’s spaces reflects upon the childhood memories of the noughties generation. This interactive tour gives audience members the opportunity to reflect upon their own time spent as children at milestone events such as birthdays or summer holidays. Finally, hear their collective hopes and dreams for the future from the young company.

Staff and members of the young company will be there to meet you in the Cornerhouse foyer whenever you arrive and will instruct you on where to go.

All Pop-Up Performance events are suitable for all ages.
