If you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, you’re probably aware that it was World Chocolate Day earlier this month – 7th July to be precise. But don’t fret if you missed it because today is National Milk Chocolate Day.

It’s another excuse to stuff your face with some of the best chocolate around.

But where to get it?

The Chocolate Café

In the adorable village of Ramsbottom, you can get the best hot chocolate in the world (or in the top 10 at the very least). The Chocolate Cafe’s upstairs café serves this famous hot chocolate in varying flavours such as original milk, salted caramel, gingerbread, butterscotch & banana, strawberry & vanilla, deeply dark and many more. They also serve artisan roasted coffee together with a range of sandwiches, cakes and a mouth-watering chocolate selection. Downstairs in the chocolate shop, you can buy chocolate slabs and bars made from the finest Colombian cocoa, in many creative and unique flavours, including the bestselling blueberry pie & ice-cream bar.

Slattery’s

Close to Heaton Park, Slattery’s offers a luxurious range of chocolates, fresh cream, fancy cake and ice-creams. And their chocolate pots brimming with liquid chocolate are to die for. But if you consider yourself a true chocoholic, you can always try and tackle the Slattery Chocolate Challenge. It’s truly impressive if you manage to polish off this amazing chocolate selection. They also sell a range of gifts and if you want to learn how to make these treats yourself you can go to the Slattery school of excellence where you can master sugar craft, chocolate and many more impressive creations.

Bonbon Chocolate Boutique

Brought to you by the team behind Teacup Kitchen, Bonbon is a quirky artisan chocolatier and cafe in the Northern Quarter famous for fine chocolates, truffles and treats. Like The Chocolate Cafe, it also has a famous hot chocolate – a rich, Latin-American style chocolate espresso. But if that’s not to your taste there’s a huge selection of artisan coffee, handmade cakes, truffles, chocolate bars and salted caramels.

Teacup Kitchen

Nearby Teacup Kitchen is also also quirky and cool and offers many exquisite chocolatey treats including a flourless chocolate cake, a chocolate brownie and a super dark salted vegan friendly brownie served with dairy-free vanilla ice-cream.

V Revolution

Talking of vegans, the amazing V Revolution is a great place to get a chocolate fix. With their gloriously indulgent Cookies N Cream milkshake plus the Tender Vegan Bakery serving doughnuts, cakes, cookies, brownies, ice-cream sundaes and more, this place is a sweet-toothed vegan’s dream come true proving that being dairy-free doesn’t mean you have to be chocolate-free.

Cocoa Cabana

Last but certainly not least is Cocoa Cabana the award-winning boutique chocolatier where incredible truffles, chocolates, brownies and cakes are all handmade. They also serve Hasbean coffee and delicious hot chocolates. So if you live south of the city centre you definitely won’t miss out on a chocolate overload this weekend.
