Following an £8m investment, Napoleons Casino & Restaurant has just opened on Portland Street, next to the equally stylish new Hotel Brooklyn.

The project has been years in the making, and boasts show-stopping interior design thanks to architect Chapman Taylor’s Castlefield office, combining high-end facilities and luxurious detailing throughout.

As well as state-of-the-art gaming, the elegant venue also has a stunning restaurant and a beautiful curved gold cocktail bar which provides a striking focal point.

The restaurant, which features plush green booth seating and marble tables down one wall, also includes a luxurious private dining room, which can seat up to eight, with gold detailing and a wall of wine on display.

Drinks-wise, there’s a range of cocktails (£8) exclusive to Manchester, including several made with local Faith & Sons gin, made in Salford.

A crisp Dirty Gin Martini – essential for that Bond vibe – is made with Faith & Sons original gin, Noilly Prat and olive brine, while a cold press negroni uses Faith & Sons cold press coffee gin, Campari and Cocchi Storico.

A Royal Pink Daiquiri, meanwhile, mixes Faith & Sons pink rum with lime juice, sugar syrup and sweet Maraschino liqueur.

When it comes to food, the restaurant, which opens daily from 5pm and overlooks the gaming area, offers a Dine in Style package of three courses from the dinner menu and a drink for £22 Sunday to Thursday and £28 Friday and Saturday.

You can start with the likes of kedgeree fishcake with a softly poached egg and korma hollandaise, followed by the rump of lamb with dauphinoise potato pureé and creamed peas with pancetta, or slow-roasted belly pork with pulled shoulder hash cake, honey glazed carrots, crackling and cider sauce.

Lighter options include sea bass with tempura king prawns and a warm Thai salad, while the grill provides a selection of steaks with hand-cut chips or a Wagyu burger on a pretzel bun. Desserts include sticky toffee and ginger pudding with salted peanut brittle.

A more casual bar menu, meanwhile, includes small plates – Moroccan style lamb koftas with mint yoghurt, tempura king prawns, crispy salt and pepper squid – as well as pizzas, a selection of burgers and lamb chops, salmon, chicken or steak straight off the grill.

The gaming area, which you can watch from the restaurant and bar area, is equally elegant in opulent shades of gold, red and blue, with screens helping with distancing at the tables and all staff in visors.

Games-wise, there’s American Roulette, Blackjack, Three Card Poker and Punto Banco, plus the latest Slot Machines and Electronic Roulette, both of which are available on a heated, covered outdoor smoking terrace.

Napoleons Manchester will also host Mahjong and Poker.

Napoleons Casino & Restaurant is open now at 57 Portland Street. Current opening hours are 5am until 10pm, with last orders in the restaurant at 8.30pm due to current government restrictions in place. Face coverings must be worn unless eating or drinking.
