Weekend-long celebrations at James Martin
If you’re sharing your mum’s free time with siblings, James Martin Manchester has handily extended the celebrations to a full weekend, not just Mothering Sunday.
On Saturday 30th March they’re serving a very special afternoon tea with a complimentary box of chocolates for just £19.95 per head.
Alternatively, on Sunday 31st March, for £35 per person you can enjoy three courses with complimentary chocolates and live entertainment.
Free pudding at Alston Bar and Beef
If your mum loves steak and gin, Alston Bar & Beef is the place.
This Corn Exchange restaurant claims to serve the best steak in the city – and with excellent reviews, they might just be right. Dining here could be the perfect way to say ‘thanks, Mum’.
Alston will also give all mums a complimentary dessert to round off their meal nicely. Double win.
Turkish delights at Anatolian Grill
What about treating your mum to a Turkish delight? Anatolian Grill in Prestwich is fast becoming a popular dining destination for out-of-towners, serving up authentic Turkish cuisine.
If mixed mezzes, lamb kofte and shish kebabs are her thing, then this is a recommendation she will certainly appreciate.

A bespoke menu at Restaurant MCR
Make Mother’s Day extra special with a bespoke three-course menu by Aiden Byrne, designed just for the day at restaurant MCR. On arrival you’ll receive a glass of fizz, and all mothers will receive a complimentary gift bag from Kiehls.
Start with roasted scallop with red pepper and squid ink, or duck confit terrine with hazelnuts and grilled sourdough. Mains include grilled beef fillet, confit mushrooms, watercress and blue cheese, or butter poached sole with lobster and chervil lasagne. For vegetarians there’s new season asparagus, duck egg and truffle followed by wild garlic risotto, red wine reduction and pickled mushrooms.
To finish, there’s either a chocolate brownie with passion fruit and mango or a strawberry sorbet, toasted barley mousse and apple marigold. Available on Mother’s Day Sunday only from midday to 4pm, priced £50 per person.
Beef and bubbles at Elnecot
Ancoats neighbourhood bar and kitchen Elnecot will be serving up their delectable Sunday roast as usual with an added bonus of a complimentary glass of prosecco for every mum in attendance.
Celebrate with bubbles and beef (or nut roast, or chicken) in this modern venue that’s a new popular hotspot in the recently regenerated part of town.
Thai treats at Chaophraya
Spoil her this Mother’s Day at one of Manchester’s most elegant Thai restaurants, where all mums can dine on tasty Thai treats.
Although there isn’t a direct promotion for Mother’s Day, every table will be offered one complimentary main course on their next visit.

Meat and Malbec at Gaucho
Gaucho know their meat – and unlimited Yorkshire puddings makes their Sunday roast (£20) a real draw.
Their roast sirloin of beef is served with roast potatoes and unlimited Yorkshires, cooked in beef dripping. There’s also carrots tossed in churrasco marinade and broccoli, and a red wine gravy.

What is this, I hear you say? The famous city centre boozer Mr Thomas’s Chop House has become Mrs Sarah’s Chop House, in a nod to the women who helped shaped history. Like your mummy dearest did when she created lovely old you.
