The Midland Hotel is currently undergoing a £14m refurbishment project, due to be unveiled in June 2020 – and Mr Cooper’s restaurant is being rebranded.

The restaurant will become Mount Street Dining Room & Bar, with a menu created by The Midland’s executive head chef Brian Spark.

With a focus on all day dining, it’s split into seven sections, offering a snack menu, starters, mains and grills, pies, sides and desserts. There will also be a set lunch and early evening menu, and a Sunday roast at weekends.

The in-house Bailey’s smoker and in-house butchery remain integral to the menu, with smoking, charring, compressing and acid cooking methods used.

New dishes on the menu include Bury black pudding with roast Tatton Park apples, beef wellington pie, chateaubriand, and surf and turf, as well as a choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

The wine list will have a strong focus on English producers, while the beer menu will feature local names including Cloudwater Brewery, Alphabet Brewing Company and Track.

The cocktail menu is split into four sections: Today’s Classics, Craft Shandies, Punch and What We’re Mixing.

“The North is famous for its hospitality and that will be key at Mount Street,” says Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland.

“While Mr Cooper’s was more of a dinner-orientated destination, we believe Mount Street has all day appeal and we’re excited to be embarking on this new chapter at the hotel.”

Mount Street is due to open in April 2020.
