Manchester is a city known for its showbiz sparkle – and our restaurant and bar scene is regularly frequented by the region’s many famous residents, football stars and visiting A-List VIPs.

But where are you most likely to spot a celebrity on a visit to Manchester?  Here we’ve rounded up some of the bars, restaurants and clubs known for attracting a celebrity clientele.

Menagerie

Since launching in 2016, Menagerie has become known as a hotspot for visiting VIPs and the city’s celeb crowd.  Known for its flamboyant entertainment on a catwalk at the centre of the dining room and its glitzy interiors, recent celebrity revellers have included American superstars Justin Timberlake and Kevin Hart and boxer Tyson Fury.

Co-owned by Real Housewives of Cheshire stars Seema Malhotra and Stacey Forsey alongside bar entrepreneur Karina Jadhav, this place is never short of glamorous guests.

Rosso

Co-owned by former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand, glitzy Italian restaurant Rosso at the top of Spring Gardens has long been known as a favoured haunt of the rich and famous.

In the early days, Rio would regularly be joined by a host of his United star pals at the restaurant, but in more recent years the venue has become known as much for global stars visiting like Floyd Mayweather Jr through to the cast of Love Island having a big old knees up here.

Most recently, Ryan Thomas headed to Rosso for his big welcome home party after winning Celebrity Big Brother.

San Carlo

Manchester’s original celeb haunt Italian restaurant, San Carlo has been the talk of King Street West for the past 15 years. It has been visited by THAT many famous faces since it first opened, that the walls are practically groaning with the paparazzi photos of the stars walking up their famous white steps – think Rihanna, Russell Crowe, Liam and Noel Gallagher (separately, of course) and David Beckham.

And whenever a new footballer signs for either Manchester United or City, you can bet your bottom dollar their first port of call will be a visit to San Carlo.  It’s kind of the rules.

Neighbourhood

The glittering interiors of Neighbourhood bar, including that highly Instagram-friendly flower wall, have made it the backdrop to plenty of celebrity revels.

The venue opened is known for its flamboyant cocktails and live music, as well as playing host to plenty of star-studded events including footballer parties and Real Housewives of Cheshire filming. Even Miley Cyrus partied there on her last visit to Manchester.

Recent celebrity guests have included Love Island star Olivia Attwood, and Corrie‘s Tina O’Brien and Lucy Fallon.

The Bijou Club

Hollyoaks star Chelsea Healey at the Bijou Club

It’s just celebrated its tenth anniversary since launching on Chapel Street, and the Bijou Club has never been short of a celebrity crowd.  Justin Bieber famously partied here after his gigs at the neighbouring Manchester Arena in 2014. And Drake liked it so much he returned to party here twice after gigs in the city.

A favourite with the reality TV crowd, you could well be rubbing shoulders with the stars of Big Brother, Love Island, Hollyoaks or the Real Housewives of Cheshire – as well as a healthy mix of footballers and sports stars.

The Living Room

Famed for its sharing cocktails (and highly coveted Pornstar Martini tree complete with sparklers), The Living Room on Deansgate remains a popular haunt for the city’s movers and shakers. David Beckham famously visited to launch his own whisky brand The Haig Club here last year, with the upper room dedicated to the brand. Plenty of celebrity parties have been held here, including the recent engagement bash for Love Island stars Jess Shears and Dom Lever.

The Lowry Hotel

If there’s an A-list star heading to town, there’s a big chance they’re going to be staying over at The Lowry Hotel, Salford’s only five star hotel. And as the bar and restaurant here are open to the public, it’s a great place for star-spotting.  We’ve spied the likes of Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Sir Tom Jones, and David Beckham.

The Lowry is also the hotel of choice for Manchester United, with the squad staying here before matches.  And boss Jose Mourinho is famously a long-term resident here. But maybe for not too much longer.

Club Liv

Opened in 2014 by former Circle Club co-owner Mo Mohamud, Club Liv swiftly took up the mantel as the new celeb haunt club in town.  Known for attracting visiting A-listers, the club has played host to the likes of Little Mix, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Kevin Hart and Jessie J in recent times.

Toy Box

The new kid on the celeb haunt block, Toy Box launched with a glitzy VIP bash last month, and has fast become known as the place to be at the weekend.

The venture has been brought to Manchester by the team from London’s Toy Room, and is based inside the infamous old Press Club on Queen Street.  Expect rather risqué decor and cheekily-titled cocktails. Oh, and a rather large bear called Frankie that likes to pose for photos with all the celebs!
