A Manchester grandad has said goodbye to NHS staff at North Manchester hospital after recovering from ‘Covid positive pneumonia.’

After spending two weeks in the hospital being treated by staff at the hospital, Edward Lockton is now heading home to finish his recovery with his wife after he bid farewell to the NHS staff who have been helping him to recover on Wednesday.

In a post that has since gone viral on social media, his granddaughter Sophie Edwards shared an image of her granddad leaving the hospital aided by a nurse, stating “we all need to hear some positive stories…”.

“Thank you to everyone for all their kindness and support through a difficult time and most of all… thanks to the NHS! #upyourscovid #handsoffournhs” she continued.

The post has been shared over 56,000 times since it went up on Facebook yesterday morning, with over 65,000 engagements and 8,500 comments.

People from all over the UK have been commenting and sharing their pleasure at the good news and appreciation for the NHS.

Sophie is right, we really do need some good news right now.
