The students are back in town. It’s time to get ready for the new academic year. That calls for a bit of shopping. And nothing says ‘shopping’ better than the Manchester Arndale Student Social.

On Tuesday September 24th, the Arndale Shopping Centre is hosting its annual autumn event in partnership with Manchester’s Business Improvement District, offering a full evening of discounts, entertainment and freebies throughout the mall and Market Street.

It promises to be the biggest and best Student Social the city has ever seen.

Discounts as high as 40% will be flowing through the centre at stores such as GAP, Levi’s, Fossil and Jack Wills, as well as 20% discounts at a whole range of high street and designer brand fashion shops. And Urban Outfitters, Boux Avenue, Topshop, Monki, Foot Asylum and Adidas will all be offering students some pretty great bargains throughout the evening.

Also on the discount list is The Body Shop, Superdrug, Boots and The Perfume Shop, so you can stock up on toiletries and get the latest to keep yourself glammed up all year long.

Department store Harvey Nichols will be offering 10% discount and live DJ sets throughout the evening, while superstore Selfridges has an evening of fantastic experiences and exclusive offers planned this year.

Debenhams will be showcasing the latest beauty trends with beauty demonstrations and tutorials across the store, as well as gifts, games, giveaways AND 20% off purchases. There is absolutely nowhere else you should be on a Tuesday night.

All that shopping can work up an appetite so it’s a good thing the discounts extend onto food and drink too.

How does 99p burritos from Barburrito sound? Or maybe 50% Italian at Bella Italia and Wolf Italian Street Food? A whole bucklet load of restaurants are serving dishes with up to 40% off all evening, including Pizza Hut, Nandos, Five Guys and even Gino D’Acampo’s. Just don’t mention his grandmother.

And what’s more, Student Social well be throwing its very own mini-festival all along Market Street in partnership with sponsor TOTUM. Expect live DJs, food stalls, freebies, and lots and lots of glitter. Best bring a hair brush.

Jagermeister, Almost Famous and many local business will be taking over the high street from 12-7, to celebrate the start of uni with giveaways, competitions and cash prizes too.

“Thousands of shoppers joined us for our last MCR Student Social event, which was extended to offer eight hours of bargains and live entertainment”, says Manchester Arndale centre director David Allinson. “We expect the September event to be even bigger with more discounts and lots of pop-up experiences in stores and on the street.”

So save the date and bring your mates along to Manchester Arndale’s Student Social 2019. Time to start spending that student loan. Who needs to pay the rent when you’ve got a whole new wardrobe, right?
