Manchester Airport has unveiled exciting, multimillion-pound plans to completely transform its Terminal 3. This ambitious redevelopment is set to provide passengers with an enhanced travel experience, with work already underway and completion slated for next year.
Known as the terminal serving popular budget airlines like Ryanair, Terminal 3 is about to receive a major facelift. The comprehensive redevelopment will include a complete overhaul of the terminal’s entrance, security hall, and departure lounge. Passengers can look forward to a sleek, modernised entrance with improved accessibility, advanced security equipment, and a more comfortable experience overall.
The most significant upgrade will come in the form of a 40% increase in seating capacity in the departure lounge, offering more space for passengers to relax before their flights. A brand-new 500-seat bar area will boast stunning airfield views, allowing travellers to unwind while watching planes take off and land. Additionally, a larger dining area will add 200 extra seats, making it easier for passengers to enjoy a bite to eat before their journey.
In addition to seating and dining enhancements, the redevelopment will bring a range of new shops and food outlets, improving the shopping experience for travellers. The landside arrivals area will also be expanded with more shops and facilities to cater to passengers as they arrive at the airport.
This redevelopment is part of Manchester Airport’s wider £1.3 billion transformation program, which aims to modernise and expand the entire airport complex. Notably, Terminal 2 has already undergone a dramatic expansion, doubling its size and earning the prestigious UNESCO-backed Prix Versailles award for architecture and design.
As part of the transformation, some of the space from the soon-to-be-closed Terminal 1 will be integrated into Terminal 3 to increase its footprint. This will help accommodate the growing number of travellers passing through Manchester, positioning the airport as a key hub for both domestic and international flights.
The redevelopment of Terminal 3 marks an exciting milestone in Manchester Airport’s efforts to enhance passenger experience, and it is set to become an impressive addition to the airport’s already award-winning facilities. With the work well underway, passengers can look forward to a more comfortable, modern, and efficient experience when travelling through one of the UK’s busiest airports.
