Lola Lo opened its doors in Deansgate Locks last Thursday night with a launch party packed to the rafters.  People flocked to be the first to experience the new Polynesia bar and grill and they certainly weren’t disappointed.

“.IT’S PLAYFUL, INTERACTIVE AND TOTALLY UNIQUE. TRUE VIBE OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC.”

General Manager Andrew Bailey says, “We had an incredible response to our opening night with the guest list at full capacity.  Everyone was eager to see and experience Lola Lo for themselves.”

“Our Tiki bar and Island Grill offers something really different – it’s playful, interactive and totally unique. Whether popping in during the daytime for coffee or lunch or joining us for an evening to be remembered, Lola Lo is the place to live life to the full in the true vibe of the South Pacific.”

Offering an escape to hazy island life in the heart of the urban jungle, Lola Lo is a premium, yet informal, bar offering delicious Polynesian food and exciting cocktails.

The 560-capacity bar is open seven days a week from 11.30am until the early hours.  It’s decorated with bamboo and woodcarvings along with unusual objects like wooden masks and puffer-fish lampshades.

Live music featuring percussion and bongos is a key feature as well as the more traditional Lola Lo music mix of credible club classics and contemporary beats.

The venue is on three levels – lower ground, ground and mezzanine across two of the Lock’s arches – and features three bars, two DJ booths, a spacious dance floor and even a dress-up box in the lower ground floor Voodoo bar.

The style of cuisine is typically Tiki, a melting pot of flavours and inspirations, and the perfect way to settle into the island way of life.  The Island Grill includes big skewers, baskets, dogs and the teriyaki-glazed Big Kahuna burger. Food presentation features exotic extras such as banana leaves and home-made Polynesian sauces and there’s full table service throughout.

The menu is topped off with a selection of delicious hand crafted desserts -sweet favourites with a hint of nostalgia. Choose from the likes of Chocolate rum coffee cups, Pineapple upside down cake or Grilled fruit kebabs.

Lola Lo likes to have fun with food, so there are a variety of food challenges for those with a hunger for life.  Customers can take on the foot-long hot dog challenge or tickle their taste buds with the hot sauce “how hot can you handle it” competition. Victors will have their eating efforts recognised with a spot on the leaderboard.

Cocktails are a Lola Lo speciality and with a focus on theatre and flair, having one is a real experience! Using edible flowers as well as favourite sweets like popping candy and Bounty bars plus spiced rum, amaretto and even fruit jams, Lola Lo cocktails are bursting with flavour and fun.  What’s more, they’re served in bespoke Tiki drinking vessels or hollowed-out fruits.

Lola Lo ‘taster evenings’ will offer diners a seat at the head chef’s table, followed by a cocktail master-class with one of Lola’s Tiki ‘tenders (also available to media upon request).
