Breaking Barriers

Description

Job Title: Senior Employment Partnerships Manager

Reports to: Head of Corporate Partnerships

Line Reports: Hiring Coordinator

Location: Contracted to work at our Manchester Office at least 2 days a week, with monthly travel to Birmingham

Salary: £38,000-£41,000

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (part-time considered)

Contract: 12 month fixed term

Overall purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead partnerships and relationships with employers in Greater Manchester and Birmingham and new regions in the North West as Breaking Barriers expands to enable more people of refugee background to access meaningful and stable employment.

In 2021 Breaking Barriers expanded into Greater Manchester and Birmingham with a contract to deliver the Refugee Transitions and Outcomes Fund (RTOF), a social impact bond focused on employability support for refugee communities. The next 12 months are a key period for the programme, in which we aim to support 200 of our refugee clients into work. This is a particularly outcomes-focused area of Breaking Barriers work and an exciting opportunity to develop initiatives with employers that get refugees into employment or support their journey into work. Together we can meet employers' hiring needs, deliver social impact to the communities they serve and focus on solutions that get refugees into employment.

At Breaking Barriers, we put businesses at the heart of our mission to help refugees find meaningful employment. We have a portfolio of award-winning corporate partnerships from Bank of America to Burberry and work with them to develop and deliver initiatives such as work experience, work placements and refugee recruitment pathways, to support our refugee clients on their journey to employment. Working closely with the Head of Corporate Partnerships, the purpose of the Senior Employment Partnerships Manager is to lead our regional strategy that ensures partnerships with businesses in Birmingham and the North West region result in greater employment outcomes for our clients. As a Senior Manager in our regional hub, you will be responsible for ensuring our activities with businesses achieve the RTOF Programme targets of improving refugee employability skills and access to work.

You will develop, secure and drive forward relationships with national and regional businesses that will hire and support local people from refugee backgrounds in Greater Manchester and Birmingham and have opportunities to support new regions in the North West as Breaking Barriers expands.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver regional strategy with businesses to improve employability and hiring opportunities for refugee clients and meet the RTOF Programme objectives. This includes tactics to support employability, works experience and employment events such as Jobs Fairs, Employability Workshops, and developing refugee recruitment pathways;
  • Identify and grow a pipeline of target companies that will unlock opportunities for employment outcomes for Breaking Barriers' refugee clients in Greater Manchester and Birmingham, and new regions when required
  • Take ownership to cultivate, secure and launch relationships with businesses that meet outcomes for our clients and RTOF Programme targets. Develop and deliver tailored and compelling proposals, pitches and activity plans to secure this support;
  • Line Manage the Hiring Coordinator to effectively coordinate and accelerate processes for refugee hiring programmes and recruitment in order to maximise outcomes for refugee clients from the business relationships you broker;
  • Work closely with the Employment teams in Manchester and Birmingham to ensure you identify business opportunities that meet our refugee client needs, skills and aspirations, and that we have clear understanding of our client pool;
  • As a Senior Manager in our regional hub you will lead on business insight, ideas and recommendations to drive forward employment outcomes from corporate partnerships. This includes developing sector strategies that align to CSR objectives, local job market trends, hiring needs and offer meaningful employment opportunities for refugees in the local area;
  • Accurately forecast and report on Corporate Partnership outcomes for the regions you cover;
  • Ensure Breaking Barriers’ aims and objectives are met, legal and other guidelines adhered to and that new partnerships align with Breaking Barriers’ principles, mission and policies;
  • As a Senior Manager in the regional hub, represent Breaking Barriers as required in external meetings and events with senior stakeholders, champion the value of refugees and work collaboratively with colleagues across the UK to drive our mission forward.
