Personal Tax Assistant

We are looking to recruit a hard-working and proactive individual into our busy Personal Tax team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience of working within a similar personal tax environment and will be qualified or part-qualified, studying ATT/ACA/ACCA.

The role of Personal Tax Assistant primarily focuses on generating tax returns across our diverse client base which includes high-net-worth individuals, owner managed businesses and nondomiciled individuals. You will carve a key support role as part of Harold Sharp’s tax team and be supported technically and personally as you develop your career in tax. This role reports to Personal Tax Manager, Helen Williams.

What does your role involve?

• Requesting Tax Return information from the client or relevant parties
• Generating Tax Returns for a diverse client base
• Identifying planning opportunities within your portfolio
• Advising clients of their UK tax positions and liaising with HMRC when required
• Working within specified budgets, monitoring WIP and raising bills in a timely
  fashion
• Support other members of the tax team as required
• Assisting with consultancy projects and other ad-hoc duties when required
• Advising on UK tax compliance and corporation tax
• Advising with P11D’s, gathering information and preparing to submit, and general tax administration

Qualifications

• ATT desired (study support may be provided for the right candidate)
• 5 GCSE’s (including Maths and English)

Key skills

• Proven experience in a personal tax role (at least 2 years), preferably gained in practice
• Strong computer skills (ideally including experience of IRIS)
• Experience of using Sage and Xero (desirable)
• Solid understanding of UK tax law requirements
• Good understanding of AML and KYC for new and existing clients
• Well organised and capable of meeting deadlines and working under pressure
• Excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with the ability to build good relationships
  with other departments in the firm
• Good integrity and able to use own initiative
