Breaking Barriers

Description

Job title: Hiring Coordinator

Reports to: Senior Employment Partnerships Manager

Location: Hybrid working, contracted to work at our Manchester Office at least 2 days a week, with some travel to Birmingham

Salary: £30,500 - £34,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with occasional evening/weekend work (TOIL provided)

Contract: 12 month fixed term

Overall purpose:

In 2021 Breaking Barriers expanded into Greater Manchester and Birmingham with a contract to deliver the Refugee Transitions and Outcomes Fund (RTOF), a social impact bond focused on employability support for refugee communities. The next 12 months are a key period for the programme, in which we aim to support 200 clients into work. This is a particularly outcomes-focused area of Breaking Barriers' work and an exciting opportunity to develop partnerships with businesses and employers that get refugees into employment or support their journey into work. Together we can meet employers' hiring needs, deliver social impact to the communities they serve and focus on solutions that get refugees into meaningful employment.

The Hiring Coordinator is a recently-established role designed to maximize job outcomes for our refugee clients by acting as a bridge between employment opportunities and work-ready clients. Sitting within the Corporate Partnerships team and based in our Greater Manchester office, this role acts as a focal point for coordination between the Employment teams and our refugee clients, and the Corporate Partnerships team and the employers looking to hire. This role reports into the Senior Employment Partnerships Manager who will identify and broker the relationships with employers across Greater Manchester and Birmingham and lead a strategy that ensures partnerships with businesses result in greater employment outcomes for our clients. You will work together to develop and deliver these opportunities.  Your role will be  primarily client-focused with an emphasis on developing a deep understanding of our client base, working with refugees directly to apply for roles, navigate recruitment processes and offer a level of in-job support to ensure successful recruitment and retention for refugee candidates. Alongside this, you will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships team and local employers to deliver effective hiring opportunities for refugee candidates.

You will develop and drive forward activity with local businesses that leads to employment opportunities and employability support for people of refugee background in Greater Manchester and Birmingham. This role will ensure we can accelerate our impact for refugee communities and meet our RTOF programme targets for refugee employment support.

Key responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement and coordinate hiring programmes within Breaking Barriers to maximise the number of job opportunities for clients, working closely with the Corporate Partnerships and Employment teams

  • Act as a focal point of coordination between the Corporate Partnerships and Employment teams on matters relating to hiring programmes and recruitment pathways;
  • Ensure effective communication between relevant internal stakeholders (Employment team, Corporate Partnerships team, clients, businesses and referral partners);
  • Liaising directly with hiring leads in businesses such as HR and Talent teams, to successfully deliver refugee recruitment pathways;
  • Deliver activities within our strategy with businesses to improve employability and hiring  opportunities for our clients, this includes events such as Jobs Fairs, activities such as Employability Workshops, and running refugee recruitment pathways.

2. Identify, shortlist and prepare clients for job applications and interviews with businesses

  • Using a combination of data and input from Employment Advisers, quickly identify and shortlist suitable candidates for roles;
  • Work directly with refugee clients by briefing them on roles and providing application support and interview preparation where necessary, as well as interview feedback where possible;
  • When required, and in collaboration with Employment Advisers, provide more in-depth employment support to clients seeking roles with businesses approaching BB;
  • Working more broadly across the team, to understand gaps and unmet client needs in achieving employment outcomes and advising Corporate Partnerships team on appropriate, mission-led job opportunities.

3. Develop and own process improvements between the Employment and Corporate Partnerships teams, with a focus on data management and use of technology

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve SOPs and ways of using CRM data to identify and shortlist clients for job roles;
  • Lead sessions and processes that facilitate and launch employment opportunities with our Employment teams, for example weekly jobs updates;
  • Using data, work with the Corporate Partnerships team to analyse client trends and inform a client-led sector approach;
  • Develop reporting processes and carry out regular reporting for the Senior Leadership Team and other internal stakeholders.
