Liam Gallagher got a birthday surprise when he performed at an intimate homecoming gig in Manchester last night.

He was celebrating his 47th birthday and the release of his brand new album Why Me? Why Not? at the Radio X gig at Manchester’s O2 Ritz when the 1,000-strong audience sang Happy Birthday to You in his honour mid-way through his set.

Liam was joined on stage by his Oasis bandmate Bonehead as they treated the crowd to a set featuring Oasis classics including Rock ‘n’ Roll Star and Live Forever as well as some of his solo material.

The show was opened by very special guest Sam Fender, whose debut album went to no.1 on Friday.

You can listen to highlights from Radio X Presents Liam Gallagher with very special guest Sam Fender on Radio X from 7pm on Sunday 29th September.
