Some films are just meant to be seen on the big screen. Oscar-winning romantic supernatural thriller Ghost is one of them.

The ultimate in weepy romances, the movie is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. And it’s returning to the big screen at Showcase Manchester to celebrate – just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) is a banker, Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) is an artist, and the two are madly in love. However, when Sam is murdered, he is left to roam the earth as a powerless spirit.

When he learns the truth about his murder, Sam must seek the help of psychic Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) to set things right and protect Molly from danger.

Released in 1990, the film was a huge box office success and received five nominations at the Academy Awards, going on to win Oscars for best original screenplay and best supporting actress (Whoopi Goldberg).

And who can forget that steamy pottery wheel scene?

“This huge box office hit is still as popular today as it was 30 years ago, and we wanted to celebrate all things romantic this Valentine’s Day,” says James Dobbin from Showcase Cinemas.

“Classic films like Ghost were meant to be enjoyed on the big screen, so whether you’re planning a romantic Valentine’s date, or want to catch this timeless movie in the cinema while you can, come and see this exclusive limited screening.”

One thing’s for sure – you’ll be humming Unchained Melody all the way home.

Ghost is showing at Showcase Manchester on Friday 14th February at 7pm and Sunday 16th at 5pm. Tickets can be booked at the cinema box office or online.
