Sourdough pizza specialists Franco Manca will be opening their first branch in Manchester next week.

The Neapolitan pizzeria company, which started out in 2008 in Brixton Market, currently has several restaurants across London and other UK cities. For their Manchester opening, they have pledged to help those in need across the city.

To support local communities, Franco Manca will donate to local homeless charities one pizza for every pizza their customers order in the first two weeks they’re open.

The initiative will run for two weeks from opening (26th September- 9th October 2019), and the team are keen to hear from anyone at local homeless shelters and foodbanks that wishes to request a donation.

The move follows the company’s previous initiatives to help those without food or shelter, such as throughout last December, when the restaurant donated thousands of pizzas to help those going hungry.

In addition, Franco Manca will be offering all their pizzas for just £5 to all dine-in customers for their first two weeks.

Manchester customers will be able to order one of the daily specials or choose from seven regular meat, veg and vegan pizza options, including customer favourite ‘the no. 4’, which features roasted cured ham, wild mushrooms and a mix of mozzarella and buffalo ricotta.

First procured by the pizzeria’s founder, Giuseppe Mascoli, near the city of Naples, Franco Manca’s slow-rising sourdough recipe still honours the ingredients and methods that make the age-old style of Neapolitan pizza unique.

“The team are very excited to be bringing our delicious sourdough to the city of Manchester, it’s the perfect new home for our Neapolitan pizza,” said Emiliano Ruzzu from Franco Manca Manchester.

“To celebrate our launch, we’re offering pizzas for just £5 to those who pop by in the first two weeks post launch. And, to support our new neighbours, we’ll also be donating one pizza to local foodbanks and homeless shelters for each one bought.

Any local charities, soup kitchens or individuals who’d like to get in touch should contact [email protected].

Franco Manca will open on Thursday 26th September at 12-16 Mosley Street, M2 3AQ.
