It’s time to celebrate the man who gave you free taxi trips to town, sweets when mum wasn’t looking, and tried to cook you dinner when he didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Your unspoken hero. Your Dad.
Father’s Day comes along once a year but is often forgotten about until the last minute, unfortunately for dads. But don’t stress! Presents don’t have to cost that much and a nice meal out is always nicer than a crate of beer and a pizza on the sofa.
Spinningfields Thai street food restaurant Thaikhun wants to celebrate fathers everywhere this year and is offering every dad a curry and a beer for just £12.
Decorated with hundreds of authentic oriental trinkets, the restaurant has a wonderful, laid-back atmosphere – perfect for a chilled catch up with your pops.
On the curry front, he can choose from classics such as Thai Green or Thai Red or swing for something a little bit different – like the creamy Panang curry, served with green beans, chillies and finished with fresh kaffir lime leaves.
They also serve a wonderful home-style Massaman curry – perfect if he likes his curry rich but relatively mild.
Thaikhun is also renowned for its Pad Thai, a dish that founder Kim Kaewkraikhot has been making for the best part of twenty years.
She first started selling it from a humble cart in Bangkok back in the 90s, before meeting her husband there one night and making the leap to the UK to found her own Thai Street Food restaurant with him.
