Do you dream of ditching the day job and becoming a street food trader? Would you like to find out more about what setting up on your own really entails before you take the leap?

On 9th January, GRUB will be hosting a Q&A session with some of Manchester’s best traders designed to give foodie hopefuls an insight and introduction into what it’s like to start a street food business.

The workshop is designed for any home cooks, enthusiastic bakers or experienced chefs looking to make the leap into street food.

Manchester success stories offering their insight at the event include Charlotte from creative cake emporium Bakeorama, Eddie and Neil from burger traders What’s Your Beef, and Mark Laurie, director of street food for the National Caterer’s Association.

Topics up for discussion include the best use of social media, menu design, getting gigs, and how to avoid the most common mistakes when just starting out.

The event will be relaxed and informal with a bar open throughout – and it will stay open after the discussion so you can network with other new hopefuls and regular GRUB traders as well as the team from The Business and Intellectual Property Centre Manchester at Manchester Central Library who can help people start, run and grow their businesses.

“It’s so important for us to support new traders, at our heart we are a market and markets should always be gateways for passionate people wanting to start out,” said Jason Bailey, director of GRUB.

“On top of that we’ve got loads of plans for 2019 so we need lots more amazing chefs and we just know Manchester has the talent!”

Last year’s sold-out event attracted over 200 attendees, so if you want to find out more you shouldn’t delay in getting a free ticket and you should arrive early to guarantee getting a seat, says Jason.

The GRUB new trader workshop takes place on Wednesday 9th January from 5.30pm at Fairfield Social Club, Archway 6, Temperance Street, M12 6HR.
