Drop into The Lab, a relaxed and welcoming pop-up studio from Venture Arts, open throughout MIF25. Led by artist-in-residence Michael Beard, this is a space filled with art, movement and music – perfect for anyone curious about creativity in action.
See how large-scale artworks come to life right before your eyes as Michael works live in the space. On selected days, The Lab will shift into a collaborative performance zone, featuring spontaneous responses between Michael, dancers from Company Chameleon, and musicians from Manchester Camerata.
Alongside Michael’s practice, other artists from Venture Arts will take over the studio at different times, offering visitors the chance to watch films, take part in workshops (some bookable in advance), or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
Venture Arts is a Manchester-based organisation championing the work of neurodivergent and learning disabled artists. Michael Beard’s vibrant paintings, illustrations and ceramic pieces often explore themes of travel and communication – with his signature use of handwritten text and letterforms.
Whether you’re here to get hands-on, soak up the creative energy, or find a quiet corner to unwind, The Lab is open to all.
