A new exhibition and book, by photographer Sam Wright, captures heady hot summer days in the city of Naples.

Whether showing teenagers making the most of their long-awaited summer break, or elderly residents spending their day between a game of cards and a refreshing dip in the sea – Sam’s photographs are a love letter to the beauty that lies in looking, and looking carefully. In this exploration of the The City of Five Hundred Domes, glimpses of the Gulf of Naples are juxtaposed with scenes from the city’s industrial port. Sam’s photographs, which take us from urban sanctuaries, the oldest streets of Napoli, right up to the leafy top of Capodimonte, are threads, which, when viewed together, form a larger tapestry.
Sam Wright was shortlisted for the Photo London x Nikon Emerging Photographer Award 2023 for his work in The City Of The Sun. Now, to celebrate the publication of The City Of The Sun, Sam Wright will be exhibiting his photographs at Village Books, 131 Oldham St, Manchester M4 1LN.
