Legendary record label set up by Peter Doherty team up with Broken Wing Club to present Broken Strap a series of events to support grassroots music!
Broken Wing Club and Strap Originals (founded by The Libertines’ Peter Doherty) have announced ‘Broken Strap’, a new bimonthly series uniting their rosters to spotlight emerging artists and support Manchester’s grassroots venues.
The partnership builds on previous collaborations, including their widely covered 2024 Northenden Fringe Festival show with Peter Doherty at the Cringlewood Social Club, which cemented their shared commitment to artist development.
he debut ‘Broken Strap’ event takes place on Friday 30th May at The Rat & Pigeon in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, a venue that has quickly become a hotspot for breakthrough acts, recently hosting sellout shows for White Horse (featuring former Blinders members) and rising star Yang.
Broken Wing Club has already staged successful events here, including a performance by NYC rapper Homeboy Sandman and two sold-out nights with Pan Amsterdam (Iggy Pop’s musical director).
Headliner Evan Williams, a rising star on Strap Originals’ roster who supported Peter Doherty at the Cringlewood event and features on his recently released album, The View From Halfway Down, will perform with his full band.
Support comes from Delbhoy Kennedy, Broken Wing Club’s flagship artist, who has shared stages with Peter Doherty and Tom Meighan (Kasabian) and recorded at Rockfield Studios (Oasis, Queen). Local hip hop stalwart Jamie (Agent J) Groovement (Reform Radio) completes the lineup for the show taking place later that night with Pan Amsterdam taking centre stage.
