The smash-hit musical comedy Mean Girls is heading out on a major UK and Ireland tour in 2026, opening at the Opera House Manchester on 23 February 2026.
Based on the iconic Paramount Pictures film, Mean Girls the Musical brings all the sharp wit, unforgettable characters and high school drama to the stage, complete with killer songs and fierce choreography.
Follow Cady Heron, a home-schooled teenager who steps into the ruthless world of North Shore High. She thinks she’s prepared for anything – until she meets The Plastics: Regina, Gretchen and Karen. Trying to bring down the queen bee is no easy task, and Cady is about to learn the hard way that high school can be savage.
After a successful West End run at the Savoy Theatre, where it was seen by over 330,000 people and won ‘Best New Musical’ at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards, this acclaimed production is ready to hit the road.
Originally premiering in Washington, D.C. in 2017 before moving to Broadway in 2018, Mean Girls has wowed audiences across the US with multiple tours. In 2024, a new film version featuring fresh musical performances introduced the story to a whole new generation.
The musical features a book by Tina Fey, music and vocal arrangements by Jeff Richmond, lyrics by Nell Benjamin and direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw. The creative team also includes Scott Pask (set design), Katrina Lindsay (costume design), Kenneth Posner (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound), and Josh Marquette (hair design), with music supervision and additional arrangements by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, John Clancy and Glen Kelly.
