Catch the next generation of local music talent with In Our Schoolyard, an early evening warm-up to The Vale’s annual In Our Backyard showcase. This special event features three short sets from some of the best under-16s acts in the area, all ready to make their mark on the local music scene.
Performing on the night:
The Mixtape – A group of Year 10 and 11 students from Crossley Heath School known for their energetic covers of rock favourites like Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses and Hard Times by Paramore. With a battle of the bands win already under their belt, they are ones to watch.
Primal – A metal band made up of four Year 10 students who formed in 2022. Influenced by the likes of Metallica, Iron Maiden and Pantera, they are working on an album of original material set for release in late 2025.
Room 3 – This Year 8 and 9 band from Saddleworth School only came together earlier this year, but have already achieved second place in a school battle of the bands competition. Expect crowd-pleasing covers from Oasis, Blur and The Cranberries. Drummer Sonny brings family music heritage too, as the son of local blues legend Kyla Brox and guitarist Danny Blomeley.
