Following the success of his critically acclaimed show BI-TOPIA, which also premiered at Waterside in 2023, Danson returns with a fresh, heartfelt comedy about identity, self-discovery and coming out later in life.
Directed by award-winning Rikki Beadle-Blair, the play follows Ben, a middle-aged dad taking his first steps into queer dating. From a messy village pub break-up to the chaotic joy of a gay rave, Daddy’s First Gay Date promises a laugh-out-loud Northern rom-com with plenty of heart.
The show had an early preview at Storyhouse, Chester in January 2025 and now arrives at Waterside for its full debut. Expect a night that’s moving, funny and unafraid to ask big questions like: “Is it selfish to leave someone you love in order to find yourself?”
