Overview

Roll up for a spectacular night of musical theatre at Palace Theatre Manchester as Lee Mead steps into the spotlight as the legendary showman P.T. Barnum in a thrilling new production of Barnum.

Best known for his breakout win on Any Dream Will Do and starring roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Wicked and Legally Blonde, Mead takes on the role of the ambitious 19th-century entertainer whose life was filled with spectacle, risk and show-stopping charm.

This vibrant staging features a cast of over 20 actor-musicians, circus performers, and acrobats, bringing the energy and wonder of the big top to the stage. With 150 instruments played live, audiences can expect an unforgettable musical experience filled with colour, movement and theatrical magic.

Packed with beloved numbers including Come Follow the Band, Join the Circus, The Colours of My Life and Love Makes Such Fools of Us All, the show combines Cy Coleman’s rousing score, Michael Stewart’s lyrics and Mark Bramble’s book for a night of pure entertainment.

Barnum originally wowed UK audiences at the London Palladium, where Michael Crawford famously crossed the stage on a tightrope. Now, Lee Mead takes on the challenge, bringing new life and daring to this timeless musical.

Expect thrills, wonder and a show full of heart – all under the imagined big top of P.T. Barnum.
