Congratulations to Coronation Street star Julia Goulding and her husband Ben Silver who have shared the first photos from their secret wedding held at an amazing Manchester venue.

For the couple married on stage at Manchester’s historic Albert Hall – in front of their family, friends and many of Julia’s Corrie co-stars.

The first photos of the wedding have appeared in this week’s OK! Magazine.

And Julia revealed why they chose the splendid city centre venue, which has played host to some of the world’s biggest rock stars, for their nuptials.

She said: “I love being on stage and I always wanted to get married on one!”

Julia, who plays Corrie‘s Shona Ramsey, and Ben have been a couple for three years.

And they chose to eschew normal wedding convention – by walking down the aisle of the former Wesleyan Chapel hand-in-hand.

Julia said: “It was important for us to walk down the aisle together and my parents aren’t
traditional. My dad didn’t mind not giving me away as he believes I’m my own person. I can totally understand why people do it, but the way we did it felt right for Ben and I.”

Among Julia’s Corrie co-stars at the wedding were Jack P Shepherd and his partner Hanni Treweek, Daniel Brocklebank, Nicola Thorp, and Tina O’ Brien and husband Adam Crofts – who also recently married in Manchester at the King Street Townhouse.

The Grade II-listed Albert Hall, on Peter Street, has had a wedding licence for the past couple of years, although most people know it as one of the city’s most exciting live music and events spaces.

Recent stars who have performed on the Albert Hall stage include Richard Ashcroft, Lily Allen and Ocean Colour Scene, and it also regularly plays host to the hugely popular Bongo’s Bingo nights.

Julia also revealed the romantic way in which Ben proposed to her, on his 30th birthday.

She said: “We went for a walk in the snow and I surprised Ben by telling him I’d booked a trip to New York for his birthday. He then said he had a surprise for me too and asked me to marry him – I wasn’t expecting it at all!”

Fate brought the two together, and Julia says she knew she would marry Ben just a week after their first date!
