This news will be music to the ears of parents – a major exhibition celebrating the magical books of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is coming to Manchester.

The author and illustrator are behind some of the most popular children’s books of the past 20 years including The Gruffalo, Zog, Room on the Broom, Stick Man, The Highway Rat and The Snail and the Whale.

And next month, an exhibition celebrating all of these colourful characters and more will open at the Z Arts centre in Hulme.

The exhibition, A World Inside a Book: Gruffalos, Dragons and Other Creatures, is the UK’s first immersive exhibition of the worlds of Donaldson and Scheffler created by Discover.   It promises a magical world of forests, miniature houses, dragons and other creatures, as families will be able to take a trip into the 3-D technicolour world of the books.

Children will be able to spot The Gruffalo, A Squash and a Squeeze around a life-sized cow, climb through The Highway Rat’s cave, rock hop through the Monkey Puzzle and discover the underwater worlds of Tiddler and The Snail and the Whale.

And prepare to take a seat for the ride of your life on the Room on the Broom exhibit.

Included in the ticket price is the chance to get creative with arts and crafts activities, where you can make your own Julia Donaldson inspired mini masterpiece.

A World Inside a Book: Gruffalos, Dragons and Other Creatures is at Z-arts from February 2019 until early 2020. Each tour takes around 50 minutes.

There’s also a chance to meet The Gruffalo live at the launch event on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February.
