After a month of refurbishment, The Alchemist have unveiled their latest creation.

Starring a brand new menu and a dining area that will have you in awe, their Spinningfields branch is shaping up to be one of the best places to be for summer.

Alongside their signature cocktail menu full of the glamour and magic that we are used to, their revamped menu has an element of Asian-fusion inspiration.

Not only does the new menu have freshly inspired dishes, it is more inclusive than ever.

Over half of the menu has vegetarian or vegan options, as well as gluten-free creations.

Perfect for large groups, or if you need another place that is accessible for dietary requirements, The Alchemist is a welcome addition to the Manchester food scene.

To start are small bites and nibbles with flavour profiles across the board.

We opted for some deliciously crispy and flavoursome pork bon-bons drizzled in sriracha mayo and Korean bites using gochujang sauce for a spicy kick to start.

Amongst their starters are also crispy ‘shrooms taking a leaf out of Japanese cuisine with a topping of miso mayo, as well as Chinese staples of duck spring rolls.

Going on to “The Main Event” of their menu, the smoking BBQ pork board is a feast fit for a king.

This platter of indulgence has a strip of tender, slow-cooked pork rib on a bed of grilled peppers and onions in a hot skillet.

Alongside this are pork crackling, pickles and their own take on a “dirty slaw”. All in all, a smorgasbord of meaty goodness.

Vegan diners may instead be more interested in the katsu curry making use of panko-coated and marinated aubergine in place of the usual chicken cutlet.

Accompanying the jasmine rice and coated in a katsu sauce made in-house, the curry has a helping of nori crisps and radish for an extra level of crispiness.

Finish your dining experience in sugary style with one of the new desserts.

Amongst the options is the Cotton-candy Baked Alaska which is brought to life at the table. This plate of meringue, blood-orange gelato and waffle is a dessert with flair of its own.

A lighter, but equally delightful option is their yakitori caramelised pineapple. Making use of traditional Japanese yakitori, the pineapple is caramelised by bare flames and served with a pumpkin seed snap sure to please any fan of sweetness.

This is only a snapshot of what The Alchemist has to offer, though.

True to their name, they have made gold out of all ingredients with each dish.

Head down to Spinningfields to see their £550k refurbishment in all its glory for yourself and relive the experience of enchantment at the table.
