MCR Student Social is more than just your standard student meet-up. It’s the city’s biggest student shopping event, with more than 150 stores across Manchester city centre offering up to 50% off exclusively for students.

It’s a chance for students to treat themselves to seriously low prices across big brands and high street stores as well as awesome independents. Forget cheap and nasty. This is top-quality and cut prices.

Organised by Manchester’s Business Improvement District (Manchester BID) and Manchester Arndale in collaboration with Capital Manchester, this event will see the city come alive with a range of entertainment featuring Capital FM DJs, pop-up stalls and lots of freebies from 4pm-8pm.

Need to cast off those winter clothes and kit out a new season wardrobe? Get discounted clothing at H&M, Topshop, Topman, Urban Outfitters, Office, Fossil, All Saints, Diesel, Radley, Lipsy, Victoria’s Secret, Boux Avenue, Footasylum, Vans, Dorothy Perkins and more with 20% off. Levi’s will offer 30% off, and for those who love a freebie, the first 100 students can bag a gift with any purchase at Oliver Bonas. DKNY is also offering 15% off purchases with a gift.

For fitness buffs, Sports Direct Fitness is offering exclusive membership prices with no joining fees or contracts, while those who prefer a pamper session can head to Vidal Sassoon for exclusive discounts or Trevor Sorbie for 25% off and a free braiding session.

There are plenty of beauty bargains to be had, too. Head to stores including The Perfume Shop, Superdrug, The Body Shop, The Fragrance Shop and Boots for a range of discounts, whilst you can enjoy skin consultations, offers and free samples from the Kiehl’s on Wheels pop-up beauty store in Exchange Square.

Get 20% off Instagram-worthy stationery at Smiggle and Ryman. Paperchase has 15% off and The Works is offering 10% off.

The department stores are out to impress, too. Harvey Nichols will be providing a whole host of entertainment including complimentary drinks, live DJs, beauty treats and masterclasses, along with 10% off purchases on the night with the Harvey Nichols Rewards App.

There’s an array of entertainment and discounts across Selfridges, too, with offers on their favourite products from the likes of Tom Ford, Jo Malone, NARS, Clarins and much more. Activities include summer/festival beauty makeovers by Charlotte Tilbury and a complimentary make-up station by MAC, as well as sweet treats from Cookie Doh MCR’s delicious gourmet cookie station. All to the soundtrack of a live DJ set by Ibiza-style house venue Lazy Lizard.

And the fun doesn’t stop there. On Market Street, Capital Manchester will be playing the latest tunes from from the DJ truck while Virgin Money Lounge will be challenging students to pack a suitcase in the fastest time to win £200.

For anyone looking for their dream summer job, Mint Staffing Solutions are giving students the opportunity to work at the UK’s biggest festivals, and NYX Professional Makeup will be giving festival-worthy makeovers. For those who prefer to get a bit more messy, why not try the Spin to Win challenge with Barburrito?

And we’re involved, too, as you can take on the challenge of eating a Manchester Tart in 60 seconds and win I Love MCR prizes. You may need to test your boxing skills against Pure Gym’s expert personal trainers to work it off afterwards.

At Manchester Arndale, take part in the Ball Pool Challenge for your chance to win a £200 gift card, try the McVities Nibbles Sweeter Together Challenge, enjoy coffee samples at the Lyons Coffee event (biscuits go brilliantly with a brew, after all), and enjoy the roaming entertainment in the food court.

Manchester Arndale is also giving away two VIP Parklife Festival tickets. For a chance to win, head to the Manchester Arndale Facebook page. Entrants must ‘join’ the Student Social 2018 event page and tag the friend they would bring with them in the competition post.

It’s enough work up an appetite – and there are offers to satisfy that, too. Students can grab a bite to eat and drinks at a range of bars and restaurants in Manchester Arndale and across the city centre.

Deals on the night come from the likes of Browns, Costa Coffee, Bagel Nash, Starbucks, Gino Gelato, Boost Juice Bar, Grafene, McDonalds, Greggs, Gino D’Acampo, Fuel Juice, Coffee Break, Pizza Hut, EAT, Millie’s Cookies, YO! Sushi, and Bella Italia, who are offering one of the biggest discounts of the night at 50% off.

If you are student, you won’t want to miss these fun-filled four hours in the city centre this Thursday, 26th April.
